A delicious, nourishing alternative to store-bought sausages that are often laden with preservatives and cheap breadcrumb fillers!

INGREDIENTS (9 Sausage Patties)
1 lb ground turkey*
½ cup crisp apple varietal, finely grated**
2 tbsp ground flax
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp fresh sage leaves, finely minced
½ tsp sea salt
¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil

*Can be substituted or combined with ground pork or chicken.
**Varieties of Crisp Apples include: Ambrosia, Braeburn, Empire, Gala, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Jazz, Lady Alice, Pink Lady.

Step 1

In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground turkey, apple, flax, garlic powder, sage, salt and pepper. Form the meat mixture into 9–2oz patties; ½-inch thick. I like using a ¼-cup measuring cup to form evenly sized patties J

Step 2

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat and lightly oil the surface. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, until no longer pink in the centre. Alternatively, bake at 400F for 25 minutes. Serve warm and freeze any leftovers for up to 2 months.
